SCOT AND VICKI LYALL
We take care of 12 condos in the complex where we live.
In low season, some of these condos sit unoccupied for 2-3-4-5 months at a time. With the heat and humidity of this tropical climate, we battle "hongo," mold, mildew and that musty smell. So we are also running the fans, opening the doors to keep the air moving.
On another front, electricity also costs alot here and is not included in the rental fee. In fall 2011 we had tenants for a month who were so nervous about their electric bill, they did not use AC and were even not using the ceiling fans.
When they checked out, we had a healthy growth of black hongo on the 12" bedroom ceiling and some on the couch cushions. It was at that time that we were hearing about this oxonator from a fix-it man friend of ours who offered us a weekend to try it out on this particular condo. The experiment worked!
The black disappeared from the ceiling, the whole condo smelled fresh, and after we brushed the white powder off the sofa cushions, it was gone. That was the selling point.
We bought one and have used it in 4 different condos whenever we catch a whiff of mustiness, smoke, leftover fish odor, etc. We took over an additional condo that had been closed up tight for at least 6 months. The couch was covered with mildew that we wondered if it would need re-upholstering.
The oxonator did the trick; after brushing, it looks brand new.
Whenever we notice that our closets are getting that musty smell, we just close up the bedroom, open closets and drawers and put the oxonator to work. We are pleased and so are our tenants and our owners. It's easy to use, small enough that storing it is not a problem, and so far has been problem free. Scot and Vicki Lyall
